ABOUT THE BUILD
This project came about through the efforts of IAMAW International President R. Thomas Buffenbarger, Dave Durbin, Celebrity Build TV and Guide Dogs of America to create a unique fundraiser. On this site you will see a 2006 custom Pro-Street Bike throughout the building process.
All money earned from this fundraising effort will go directly to Guide Dogs of America for their mission to provide professionally trained guide dogs and instruction in their use to blind and visually impaired individuals. These dogs and the training of the blind handler, as well as their stay at the campus, are provided at no cost so that they may continue to pursue their goals of independence and greater mobility.
GDA receives no government support and relies on contributions from the private sector for the funding needed to continue their work. The cost of providing one guide dog team is estimated at $38,000.
We wish to thank the IAMAW District 26 and Local Lodges 700 and 1746 for their understanding of the importance of this training and their support by contributing their time, effort and expertise to this fundraising event. They not only help GDA financially but assist in bringing awareness to the public.
